Day 62

Oh my goodness I can't believe yet another post didn't go through, how frustrating! Anyway...
Hooray! Today is the last day of school for 2012! Aidan has a wrestling match tonight and his uncles fly in tomorrow for a week long visit, he is very excited! Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone!

Day 58

Grr I didn't know that Friday's never posted. Anyway, he had a nice weekend of doing nothing and is excited to see his uncles who are flying in on Saturday!

Day 57

Aidan had a great time last night and is looking forward to his weekend of doing nothing.

Day 56

Aidan is very excited for today. After school he has a field trip to Chili's restaurant with his Spanish club. It's a very early dinner as he gets picked up at 5:30 but he is excited!

Day 55

Sorry, I didn't see that yesterday's did not post until I went to post today's. This week is just a regular week of regular stuff for the most part. I took a few days off work and I have been able to get a lot of Christmas shopping and preparations done.

Day 54

Monday, December 10, 2012

Day 53

We had a good weekend. Aidan had a wrestling match on Friday, he was winning 6-1 when he got pinned. He wasn't feeling well so he only did one match. Aidan was happy to finally find Christmas presents for some family members this weekend also.

Monday, December 3, 2012

Day 48

Two great pieces of news from this weekend. First, Aidan came home with his report card on Friday, straight A's, two of which were A+! Second, on Saturday he did very well wrestling and got his first pin!

Day 47

Aidan's first wrestling match is this weekend, he is excited!

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Day 46

Aidan's teachers are Rutgers fans and apparently they have a big game today. As such, two of his teachers asked the kids to wear red today to show support haha. Aidan being Aidan, he forgot today. Luckily I knew since they had emailed everyone so he quickly changed clothes.

Day 45

We got a couple inches of snow yesterday. Aidan was very excited to make a snowman!

Monday, November 26, 2012

Day 43

We had a nice thanksgiving but Aidan was definitely eager to get back to school. The last thing he wanted right now was a four day weekend.

Day 41

Aidan had a great dentist appointment yesterday. I recently took away his electric toothbrush because it was making him a lazy brusher. His teeth looked cleaner to me using a manual brush and I was right. His last several exams were terrible, last night was so minor and it was just to make sure he was brushing all the way up to his gums which is common for kids.

Monday, November 19, 2012

Day 40

Aidan finally has his dentist appointment today. It has been rescheduled 3 times due to them having no power.

Friday, November 16, 2012

Day 39

It has been great great for Aidan and all the other kids to finally have life back to a normal pace. Two weeks of having no power or running water when it's 40 degrees outside is just terrible. But it is past now, thank goodness.

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Day 37

Wrestling started last night, Aidan was very excited. Since the season started so late they are playing catch up so he has practice all week.

Monday, November 12, 2012

Day 35

We just got power back yesterday which was good because school is starting back today. Aidan is excited to finally get back to school though he is disappointed that all before and after school activities are cancelled for this week at least. A lot of roads are still not passable in town so they sent out info about moving bus stops and asking people to be there early just in case.

Still no power

We still are without power and school is still closed. As of yesterday our town was still 93% out of power. I don't know how much was restored today. I finally got a hotel room for tonight. Aidan is so used to the cold that he is burning up in the warmth of the room. The gas lines are crazy as everyone is panicking. I got lucky today and found a place that I only had to wait 15 minutes on line. If I hadn't gotten gas today I would have had to drive to Pennsylvania tomorrow. They instituted a temporary rule that determines when you can get gas. If the last number in your license plate is an even number you can only get gas on even numbered days. I'm an even, tomorrow is my day off so I cannot get gas in New Jersey tomorrow.
Anyway, we are surviving. Aidan was able to keep himself entertained. I just hope this doesn't last much longer and we can return to our lives.

No school for the rest of the week

We are still without power but holding up. Luckily nearly all of Aidan's electronic things can be charged in the car. We have to conserve gas as the state is running out. Most stations don't have the power to pump and if they do the lines are incredibly long. People are getting gas for their generators and extra gas for their cars. Apparently the cell towers are currently being powered by generators so its only matter of time before that runs out. It took me two hours to get home last night from work, including pulling over and crying because the conditions are so bad. I was beginning to fear I would never get home. Here are a few pictures from around us. They aren't nearly as bad as what I saw last night. The electric company's standard reply is 7-10 days for power restoration. Some people have power back today but judging by what I saw last night with all the downed wires and trees, it's going to take a long time for us. Maybe as people get power back hotels will have rooms available.

No school Tuesday, till????

New Jersey is devastated. I know many people who have lost their homes, cars, and loved ones. We are among the lucky ones who escaped with no damage. We are safe. We have no power. Luckily it isn't too cold outside. I have called all over and cannot find a hotel. Everyone please pray for the rescue workers while they carry out the daunting task of searching for people. The shore is, well, gone. I have seen video of Seaside that shows houses completely covered up to the roof with sand. It puts a knot in my stomach.

No school Monday

School has already been cancelled for Monday and with what is predicted I don't anticipate school Tuesday or Wednesday either. I also have a feeling that they won't reschedule Halloween like they did last year for the blizzard so I let Aidan get all dressed up today to take some pictures. We are as ready as we can be, here's to hoping we don't lose power. We managed to not lose power for last years hurricane but it hit landfall much further down the coast. They are predicting it to hit land around Atlantic city which is only 133 miles away.

Friday, October 26, 2012

Day 34

A hurricane is heading our way. It will most likely collide with a nor'easter resulting in worse flooding than with the hurricane last year. It could hit as early as Sunday with the worst likely being Tuesday. I have a feeling Halloween will just be cancelled this year. Hopefully we don't lose power so we can stay at home.

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Day 33

Here I am at a photo show and I forgot to post the picture.

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Day 31

Right before I walked into his room to take the picture I heard what sounded like crying, I thought maybe he was having a bad dream. It turns out he was only making a noise to get my attention so I wouldn't forget to take the picture. What a silly boy.

Monday, October 22, 2012

Day 30

No Spanish club or tech club today. Aidan says its weird to be waiting for the bus on a Monday.

Friday, October 19, 2012

Day 29

Hopefully the weather cooperates tomorrow so we can go pumpkin picking.

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Day 27

He tried his hardest to pretend he was asleep but just couldn't stop the grin.

Monday, October 15, 2012

Day 25

Today technology club meets for the first time. He is very excited about it, especially getting to stay after school.
