Still no school

We finally have our power back and came home today. Two nights in the hotel was driving me crazy! Yesterday I took Aidan sledding and he had a great time! There was nearly two feet of snow on the mountain! I took him back today and it was all nearly melted away.
School was cancelled for today and again for tomorrow. Parts of town still do not have power and there are still roads closed due to downed trees and power lines. Because of this, the town, and nearly every surrounding town, has postponed trick or treating until friday.

Snow in October!?

Well, soccer was canceled for today...

We hurried to the mall before the roads got too bad to get Aidan new snow pants and snow boots.  A lot of stores didn't have them in stock yet.  We first had went to a sporting goods store but about 10 minutes after we got there they lost power so couldn't buy anything.  So we went to the mall which was right next to it and found snow pants in Macy's and boots in payless.

When we got home, we had no power...

I heard it could be a few days until we get it back...

So I started calling around looking for a hotel.  They either didn't answer or were already full.  I finally found a Hilton about 30 minutes away with rooms but there reservation system was down and it was first come first serve.  I have never packed an overnight bag so fast in my life!

When we got here there were no rooms left with two beds so we had to get the single king bed suite to get the pull out couch, but we got a room!

Aidan was excited to be able to go swimming!

Seriously, what is up with New Jersey this year??? First a hurricane, then an earthquake, now a blizzard in october??

Day 34

SNOW!? Yes there is snow in the forecast for tomorrow so we will see if he actually has a soccer game tomorrow.

Day 33

Aidan was done with his homework by 6pm last night and was more than excited! I loving that I have my old Aidan back and the stressed out worried one is gone!

Day 32

Aidan had soccer practice last night so I was expecting him to still be doing homework when I got home. To my surprise he was done and apparently finished in record time! He just had this smile in his eyes that I recognized right away...he was stress free! Just knowing that he has more time now has made him feel so much better.

Day 30

For some reason the picture I took this morning didn't save to my phone and I didn't realize until after he was on the bus. I was going to take a picture when he got home but I had to bring a friend to labor and delivery (she and the babies are okay). So here is a picture from now.

Aidan made the decision to quit gymnastics because he is so stressed with all of his school work. It was a very hard decision for him but he is okay with it. Tonight was his last practice. He is going to check out wrestling and if he doesn't like it we will figure something else out

Day 29

We were hoping the braces might have been removed today. It alas, probably 3 more months. That's ok because he got Halloween colors today and will get Christmas colors in December.

Saw this at school today

We picked up a friend after school today to bring to soccer practice. When we walked by Aidan's classroom I saw this hanging on the wall. Aidan is so good at describing himself.

Day 28

Aidan is getting really concerned about his homework and his grades. He is very stressed out because all he does is sports and homework and wants time to have fun and just be a kid. I think the only way that will happen is if he drops gymnastics. We talked about it and he doesn't want to because he loves it so much so I am coming up with ways to help him make this decision on his own. If I just put my foot down it will only upset him more. Aidan does very well in school and wants straight A's but lately he has been turning in homework late because he didn't have time to finish it at night and he says that the homework grade is a big part of the final grade. His homework takes him about 4 hours to complete, for the fifth grade!

What a great weekend Aidan had! First he won his soccer game, his team is undefeated with two ties! Then we went night time pumpkin picking! This is the first year the farm did this so there weren't many people but it was cool. The hay ride stayed there waiting for us to pick our pumpkins, its a good thing we found great ones right away and didn't have to venture out into the field very far! Aidan wanted to try the corn maze in the dark which was much harder also! And they even had the monster trucks running at night!

Day 24

Aidan is feeling better thank goodness. He slept in my bed last night because he said something was scaring him in his room. I hope this doesn't start the thing that happened last year where he was in my bed for almost a month.

Aidan has a cold and just coughing his poor little head off.

Day 22

Aidan had a soccer game yesterday and he played awesome! There was this one play where he was up against a kid where I swear Aidan only came to his waist. Aidan was running circles around him and the kid couldn't catch him or get around him because he was so much taller than Aidan, it was so funny!

No school

No school today or tomorrow. Here is a picture from apple picking this weekend.

Today is enrichment day for Aidan which means he finally gets to learn to play the guitar he won at the tricky tray back in may.

5th Grade Portrait

Remember this was taken when his face was still pretty swollen.  I am glad we decided to try pictures that day because it actually came out pretty nice.  You can hardly see the swelling and even if you do I think it kinda makes a funny story.  So we are keeping this one and not doing the re-take, what do you think?

Well had practice last night but he managed to get caught up on his homework! He was very excited!

5th grade homework has set in :( As sick of the rain that I am I hope it rains all day so soccer is cancelled so he can catch up on homework tonight.

Day 17

Aidan had a great soccer game on Friday and his leg is nearly all better! It was already looking better when he saw the doctor on Friday and now you can hardly tell.
