No school for the rest of the week
We are still without power but holding up. Luckily nearly all of Aidan's electronic things can be charged in the car. We have to conserve gas as the state is running out. Most stations don't have the power to pump and if they do the lines are incredibly long. People are getting gas for their generators and extra gas for their cars. Apparently the cell towers are currently being powered by generators so its only matter of time before that runs out. It took me two hours to get home last night from work, including pulling over and crying because the conditions are so bad. I was beginning to fear I would never get home. Here are a few pictures from around us. They aren't nearly as bad as what I saw last night. The electric company's standard reply is 7-10 days for power restoration. Some people have power back today but judging by what I saw last night with all the downed wires and trees, it's going to take a long time for us. Maybe as people get power back hotels will have rooms available.

No school Tuesday, till????
New Jersey is devastated. I know many people who have lost their homes, cars, and loved ones. We are among the lucky ones who escaped with no damage. We are safe. We have no power. Luckily it isn't too cold outside. I have called all over and cannot find a hotel. Everyone please pray for the rescue workers while they carry out the daunting task of searching for people. The shore is, well, gone. I have seen video of Seaside that shows houses completely covered up to the roof with sand. It puts a knot in my stomach.

No school Monday
School has already been cancelled for Monday and with what is predicted I don't anticipate school Tuesday or Wednesday either. I also have a feeling that they won't reschedule Halloween like they did last year for the blizzard so I let Aidan get all dressed up today to take some pictures. We are as ready as we can be, here's to hoping we don't lose power. We managed to not lose power for last years hurricane but it hit landfall much further down the coast. They are predicting it to hit land around Atlantic city which is only 133 miles away.

Day 34
A hurricane is heading our way. It will most likely collide with a nor'easter resulting in worse flooding than with the hurricane last year. It could hit as early as Sunday with the worst likely being Tuesday. I have a feeling Halloween will just be cancelled this year. Hopefully we don't lose power so we can stay at home.

Day 31
Right before I walked into his room to take the picture I heard what sounded like crying, I thought maybe he was having a bad dream. It turns out he was only making a noise to get my attention so I wouldn't forget to take the picture. What a silly boy.

Day 22
One of Aidan's projects for social studies is to write a timeline of his life till the age of 30. Aidan has never really had an idea of what he wanted to be when he grew up so he was stressing. Trying to brainstorm ideas last night I asked him if he was learning anything this year that really interests him. He said, well, computers. So I looked up what a computer engineer does. I almost fell asleep reading the description, he was jumping up and down with excitement haha. I guess he at least has a direction now.

Day 20
Aidan was up very early and woke me up with his nose blowing. You know the way an elderly man blows his nose so loud that it sounds like a fog horn? That's Aidan.

Day 19
The biggest reason I am surprised that Aidan joined Spanish club is that he has to get up earlier since it starts before school.

Day 18
Aidan LOVED technology club! He is basically going to learn all the great things about Mac computers. I have a feeling his little netbook isn't going to cut it much longer.
So now he is in Spanish club before school 3 days a week and technology club after school once a week.
