Day 104

We got home around 11:15pm because right after his age group awards we were able to high tail it out of there. It was really back and forth about school today and I ultimately let him decide. At the last minute he decided to go for very grown up reasons and I am very proud of him. As for the meet yesterday, he looked good but his scores didn't reflect it. He got lower scores last night than last week but he isn't as upset about it because he was in a great mood, my night owl was in his element. He did receive one medal which he admitted did make him feel better also. So since it was a last minute decision to go to school in the pouring rain we got there just at 9 am when school starts and there were still parents dropping off their kids so he wasn't all that late but it leaves you with a hood covered face for a picture.

Day 103

Another big meet on Sunday. This one is almost two and half hours away in pennsylvania. We also don't check In until around 4:30 so by the time we get home Sunday night it will be near midnight so I plan on sleeping in on Monday so the video will be up later on Monday. I'm also not sure if I will make him go to school Monday either, we will just have to see how his morning is that day. Lacrosse season starts in the next couple weeks so tomorrow we are going shopping for a new lacrosse stick and then dropping it off with a coworker for his son to re-string it.

Day 102

What you don't see behind him is the half gallon of chocolate milk on his bed and on the floor. He decided last night that instead of keep getting up to get a drink that he would just bring the entire jug in his room which he promptly knocked over when he woke up minutes before this picture was taken.

Day 101

Back to school for Aidan after four days off. He did an extra day of practice last night. After his meet on sunday we watched his video and I pointed out where his deductions were. His coach said it must have finally sunk in because he is now keeping his legs together better.

Aidan didn't have the best meet and he is pretty upset about it.  Last year at this meet as a level 4 he cleaned  up on medals. This year he didn't get any.  He understands though that even if he had all his top scores today he still would not have earned a medal in every event because the competition was very tough this year.

I managed to get some pictures from the meet today.  Here are a few, some are from warm ups, some are during competition.   

Day 100

Let's try this again for the 5th time.  I have no idea why the picture keeps not showing.  I'm trying from my computer now instead of my cell phone.

Wow it's the 100th day of school already, time really flies!  
Aidan has a doctor appointment before school today so he will just be a little late. Last night I got the tentative lacrosse game schedule for this season. He has 12 games and they might be adding a tournament in June!  They don't know the practice schedule yet but march is always all over the place because of field unavailability because of the snow and then just being muddy. The kids aren't even allowed on the main fields until after spring break. This year is very exciting because they finally get real uniforms and not just pinnies. I also have to get him a new stick so it's regulation. Two years ago they cut his stick a little short to help him learn handling skills better. All his pads and his helmet are still good. 


There is also no school monday or tuesday for president's weekend.  They ended up keeping the tuesday as a vacation day because apparently people flipped out and the changed it to adding a day on to the end of the school year to make up for the extra snow day.  If they use anymore they will start taking away from spring break.  

Day 99

Aidan had a great practice last night.  He says his flares are really opening up and he might do them at the meet on sunday.  The last time he did them the judge said they were not big enough so he didn't get he bonus points for them. The meet before that he tried them and he fell off and the deduction is more than the bonus he gets for doing extra circles and the flares.  Aidan is really looking forward to this meet because it is a big invitational where they are awarded medals and the meet takes place at Temple university in Philadelphia.  After the meet we might go back to the Hard Rock Cafe, Aidan's favorite restaurant.  We went last year for dinner the night before the meet.  I think Aidan's goal in life is to eat at as many Hard Rock's as he can, so far he has been to three: Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and New York City. Those are the only ones within driving distance.

Day 98

It's a good thing that Aidan didn't have any activities yesterday because he worked on homework until bedtime with just one brief break. Tuesdays are bad for homework because that is the day he has to do his big writing assignment for language arts.

Day 97

The weather was very nice yesterday but today it is back to bitter cold.  I got Aidan's report card yesterday, well, I actually should have had it on friday but someone forgot to get it out of his backpack.  Aidan has all A's and B's and is doing fantastic as always.  Today is a day off for Aidan, nothing to do at all!

Day 96

Happy valentines day! We did valentines yesterday since I have to work and he was giving me a pin that says "#1 mom" on it that he wants me to wear today. Aidan had a great meet on Saturday, he was first place on rings!!

Day 95

Wow my day off actually falls on a day when Aidan actually has school. The past few weeks it just so happened that on his snow days I was off. Tomorrow is meet day! He also has a meet the following weekend and the one after that. February is a busy month!

Day 94

Apparently Aidan left his grips at the gym Monday night so his coach taught him a lesson about it. Aidan tried to tattle that coach played a trick on him so I reminded him that what if he had a meet and didn't have his grips because he wasn't responsible about them. I think he kind of got it and will hopefully be more responsible from now on.

Day 93

Aidan has been needing a new backpack for a while now but we haven't been able to find one he likes and is big enough for how much he needs to carry. We finally found one at LLBean and it arrived yesterday and he LOVES it!! Gymnastics tonight!

Day 92

Aidan is getting all geared up for his competition on Saturday. Last night he came to me around 9:30pm saying he was hungry. Do you know what he wanted? Corn. Yes, corn. And he ate the entire thing.

day 91

Aidan had the day off on saturday because the girls team was hosting a meet so the gym was unavailable. We had planned on skiing but it rained all day so we went to the mall so he could start making his birthday wish list.

day 90

Sorry for the late post, I completely forgot about it. Aidan won't have practice tomorrow due to the girls team hosting a meet there so I need to contact his coach to see if he wants him there tonight. I'm going to see if anywhere has ski lessons for him tomorrow since we are now free but I doubt it.

day 89

Well Aidan did fantastic at the dentist yesterday. It was just a tiny cavity so they were able to fill it without numbing or gas. After that we saw the orthodontist and his front teeth are sticking out even more than six months ago which concerns him so Aidan is going to get partial braces. They are just on top and just four attachment things. Apparently his teeth are doing that because Aidan is pushing on them with his tongue so he will also be placing a metal bracket behind his teeth to discourage it. Guess I need to start picking up extra shifts because I never expected braces at 9 years old.

No school day

There is no school today due to the major ice out there. This means that they will have school on february 22nd. At least they are not adding on to the school year yet.  Today is a busy day, Aidan is getting his first and hopefully last filling today. It is on a baby tooth so hopefully he has learned his lesson, he already is being a better brusher.

Well we are getting another storm today that could last into thursday.
